Hello, Mount Members and Friends! These are your announcements…

  1.  The time has changed for the Food Distribution at the Church of The Harvest Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry, located at 2701 Gattis School Road. You don’t even have to exit your vehicle, you just open your trunk and the volunteers will put your box of food in the car for you. People start lining up as early as 6:00am. Food Distribution New Time: 7:00am – 9:00am
  2. Exercise Classes will be offered each Thursday from 6- 6:50 pm and are open to all Mount members and community friends. Please join us and remember, together is better!
  3. The Senior Ministry will be “Cruising” in May of 2026 on the Carnival Breeze departing from Galveston. A bus will take us from the church to Galveston and we still have seats available. Join us. For more information, email the travel agent at shellda@shelldagoes.com.
  4. MSBC Ministry Leaders and “Part Time Papparazzi”, please help us to not be “Social Media Stalkers” by sharing your ministry event or church pictures with us! We’d love to post your pictures on our social media platforms. Please send in your pictures, with your name, caption and picture information (who is in the photo, event or gathering, location, etc.) to info@themount.net or text them to 737-341-9155.
  5. P.A.T.H. Ministry which stands for “People Available To Help” is back! This confidential support group is a Christ-centered based 12-Step Process. Please join us on Thursday evenings from 6:30- 8 pm beginning July 3rd. Each meeting will include prayer, reading a recovery step and corresponding Scripture, a short teaching or testimony and group sharing and we will utilize the book, “Conquering Chemical Dependency; A Christ-Centered 12-Step Process” authored by Robert S. McGee & Dale W. McClesky. We are actively looking for individuals who have a desire to work with the P.A.T.H ministry.
  6. We know that communication is vital in the church to help foster relationships among members, to create a harmonious environment and to support our church’s theme of “Ministries for Mankind”. That’s why we invite you to be a part of this connection.   7. The Classic has returned!  Yes, the Dr. AW Anthony Mays Basketball Classic that is.  Men come out and showcase your skills as we celebrate our beloved Pastor’s 39th??? anniversary on Saturday October 25th.     Ladies don’t fret! We didn’t forget about you; we put you first.  Introducing the very 1st Dr. AW Anthony Mays Ladies Classic. There will be a 3-point contest at halftime.  Come out and join us for a fun, festive day filled with games and concessions.  If you’re interested in volunteering or playing, please contact Dea.   8. Calling all of you talented Pew Singers. All of the 1st Sopranos, 2nd Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, Bass and Harmonizers. The Music Ministry prayerfully extends an invitation for you to join us! There is a Choir waiting for you. You can choose to join the Sons of Sinai, Women of Worship, Vintage Voices, Youth and Young Adults or the Church Choir! Make your joyful noise from the Choir Stand!   9. On Sunday, October 12th, we are excited to celebrate our very 1st Young Adult Annual with the 2025 Young Adult Day. Our Young Adult Ministry, known as The WAVE, is led by our Young Adult Pastor, Dr. Joshua Reese, and are very excited to welcome special guest, Rev. Branden Walker, the pastor of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. This will be a day that you do not want to miss. So be sure to come and celebrate, encourage and support our Young Adults on this exciting day!
  10.  October is just around the corner, and the youth ministry is in the early stages of planning for Angel Night 2025.  How can you help? We are glad you asked! Volunteers are needed to help set-up, facilitate games, activities inside and outside. We, also, need help with the parking lot trunk or treat and clean-up. We are asking members to donate individually wrapped candy and snacks.  Donations can be left at the front desk in the foyer beginning Sunday October 5th.  For more information or to volunteer you may contact, youth directress Sis.   11. Come share your success and learn from others as you gain access to a wealth of resources at your interactive Mount Sinai Temple Wellness Ministry Health and Wellness Celebration. This event will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 9 am until 1 pm in the family life center.
  12. All Men and Boys of the Mount, you are invited to attend our Game Day with the Pastor Tail-Gate Fellowship. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on October 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the upstairs lounge area as we cheer on the Longhorns and Sooners in the much anticipated annual Red River Rivalry. There will be plenty of food, fun and fellowship. Bring your game face, your game colors, T Shirts, Hats and whatever you think will bring victory to your team. Most of all during our time together we will show our appreciation to Pastor Mays for his 39 years of faithful service to the Mount.   13. The St. John District Junior Women will be making hygiene bags for the homeless. We are asking for donations so that we are able to put these bags together. Thank you so much for your support in helping us share this with the congregation.
  14. With the spirit of gratitude and by God’s grace, we warmly invite women of the Mount to join us in celebrating our own treasured pearl, First Lady Fannie Pearl Mays on Saturday, October 11th at 1:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center for the First Lady’s Luncheon “Honoring Our Treasured Pearl”. Wear your favorite pearls as a symbol of elegance and honor. Let us gather in love, fellowship, and appreciation for the grace, wisdom, and light the First Lady brings to our church family. Register to attend immediately following service on September 28th and October 5th.
  15. On Saturday, October 11th, members of St. John Association are coming together for a Tabernacle Cleanup Day. Items needed for the cleanup are push and riding lawnmowers, chainsaws, weed eaters, rakes, shovels, trash bags, blowers and any outdoor lawn equipment. We will be cleaning up from 8 am until 12 pm at the St. John Tabernacle which is located at  7501 Blessing Avenue. Thank you in advance for your support!
  16. The encouraging and informative Family Matters Series will have the last panel discussion for the year on Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30 p.m. here in the sanctuary. Mount Family, come out and be blessed by our fellow members for this much needed discussion.
  17. Ministry Leaders, the year is winding down, but we are gearing up for the new year. Please send your calendar plans of you meetings and events for 2026 to Dorothy Mays Clark. The church staff will have our Calendar Planning Session on Tuesday, October 14th and we want to be sure that your meetings and events are included. Please submit these plans by Thursday, October 9th. Thank you so much for your assistance!
  18. After our First EVER Young Adult Annual here at the Mount, we’re looking for all Young Adults to join us on Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 PM at Hooky Entertainment in Hutto, Texas. This outing is for all young adults, ages 18–39. This will be a time of fellowship, fun, and community as we kick off our first event back together. We invite all young adults to come out and be part of this exciting evening! For questions or more information, please contact Kennedy Jobe.
